What’s new in the bee world? We are in the early stages of taking a step closer to treatment free beekeeping. This year we are planning on doing more walk-a-way splits as we have seen vast improvements in our bee yards since we have started. Not only in honey production but mite resistance as well. Our plan is to bring in the certified Russian bee stock and flood our apiaries with there drones and continue to improve our genetics through walk away splits. We are excited to announce that this year we are going to go treatment free in our Middlebrook bee yard here in Virginia as we monitor the bees mite levels and set a plan in motion for weeding out the undesirable traits as best we can. It’s a small step toward what we hope will be able to continue in all of our bee yards in the near future.
